Season's Greetings

Merry Christmas to all and warm wishes for 2010. The Christmas deadline has passed and hopefully things will settle back to normal soon. I have been busy working on some commissions and am pleased to have completed them on time. (ie, done and delivered before Christmas) I hope to post some of them here eventually. In the meantime, here are a couple of other paintings that I have completed lately.

Completed Poppy painting

Oriental Poppy

An Oriental Poppy, 20 x 30" watercolour. This work is still in progress.

It seems like I am having limited time to paint this week so I have nothing finished to show you. I thought that I would show you instead something that I am working on now. I want to develop some of the rear right petals just a bit more, but not too much. I want to avoid overworking any of it. I am having a lot of fun with this one. I started it in the summer and put it away as I was not pleased with how it was progressing. It came out 2 or 3 weeks ago and I have been dabbing away at it when I can, and am enjoying it much more this time. I have it propped up in my studio so that I can see it when I walk in and every time it jumps off the wall at me and says "look at me!" I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do. As always, comments are welcome.

Angel in the Snow

We have not had any snow here yet, but this is about the only part of the province that has not had snow. It has been cold and is feeling a lot like winter so I guess my thoughts are tending toward pictures to use for Christmas cards. This is a possible candidate for a series of cards. I will announce it on here once they are ready.

Kids at the beach

Kids at the Beach, 7 x 10", watercolour, Oct 2009, $198

This picture comes from a trip that I took with the kids to one of my favourite beaches. Mavillette Beach on the south west shore of Nova Scotia is a great place to spend a hot August afternoon. Some days there is too much fog but on this day the fog was hovering off the coast and sunshine bathed the beach. There were sandcastles dotting the kilometer long stretch of sand and kids everywhere having fun.
