Artist by the Sea, Saturday's paintings

These are all but two of the paintings that I did on Saturday (july 11).  One of the missing is a picture of daisies, the other is the picture with 3 sailboats from my post last week.

These are the paintings that I did on the Sunday of Artists by the Sea in St Andrews two weekends ago.  Saturday's weather was lovely; Sunday's not so lovely, as you can tell from the paintings!  No blue skies in sight.  With the exception of the cottage, these are all views from Indian Point.

Artists by the Sea

Here are just three of the 21 paintings that I painted on the weekend just past. I am encountering software compatability issues so these are considerable rougher looking shots than you would normally see. I hope to fix them soon. These three were painted on Saturday when the weather was marvellous for painting. It was mostly sunny but the fog rolled in and out 2 or 3 times to make for splendind atmospheric conditions. I spent the whole morning at the Yacht Club which has a marvellous view of the wharf. The afternoon I spent at the Centennial Gardens.
All three of these have sold at silent auction. Stay tuned, more paintings to follow next week.

weather forecast

The weather forecast is looking good for the weekend.  Sunny for Saturday with a chance of showers for Sunday.  Even with rain in the forecast I am looking forward to painting out doors this weekend.  The nice thing about rain after all is that it comes from clouds and clouds are fun to paint.
If you are near St Andrews NB I invite you to check out the Artists by the Sea for Charlotte County Hospice painting event and fundraiser.  Home base for the event will be at the St Andrews Legion, with an exhibit of framed works by the participating artists at Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Center.

Another year of painting out-of-doors starts soon

Hospice by the Sea is next weekend.  Saturday and Sunday will see more than 30 artists descend upon St Andrews NB to paint on location.  The resulting paintings will be auctioned off (silent auction) with half the proceeds going to the Hospice of Charlott County.
Here is one of my favorites from last year:
Tobermorry III, 5 x 15", Private Collection
You may see the rest of them by checking out my post from last July.  If you wish to come and find me, the event is July 11 and 12.  I plan on starting the day at the St Andrews Yacht Club and then moving on from there as the weather and other conditions dictate.  Hope to see you there.

Another Poppy sketch

Oriental Poppy Sketch, 7 x 10", watercolour, June 2009, $ 185
This is my test version for the larger one that I am working on now.  Stay tuned to see how the larger one turns out.
